Meet Dr. Charissa Chamorro

Dr. Charissa Chamorro is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD-spectrum disorders, and sleep-related issues. She integrates her warm and compassionate approach with scientifically supported interventions to help people develop effective coping strategies and achieve greater emotional well-being.

Dr. Chamorro has over a decade of experience working with children, teens, and adults on a range of behavioral and emotional issues. She completed her training at some of the top treatment and research sites in the country including Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders, New York State Psychiatric Institute, New York University, and Mount Sinai Medical Center. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also specializes in children’s and women’s mental health, and she often works with parents to support them through the joys and challenges of parenthood. In addition to her expertise in mental health, Dr. Chamorro is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and she is passionate about helping people get the sleep they need.

Dr. Chamorro has presented her research at conferences nationwide and has been awarded fellowships in research and statistics. She has contributed to research on pediatric OCD and anxiety disorders, and has conducted research on the identification of factors that contribute to anxiety and mood disorders.

Dr. Chamorro is on the Expert Medical Review Board for Parents Magazine and she is a frequent media contributor. Her expertise has been featured in Time, Forbes, Parents, People, Huffington Post, Real Simple, Insider, Healthline, and Newsweek. She was also a featured contributor on NBC's Doc to Doc.
